News & Announcements
Greetings Parents and Students:
The D’Arbonne Woods Child Nutrition Program and Wellness Committee would like to bring your attention to some changes in breakfast and lunch service for the 2020/21 school year as well as let you know what we are doing to maintain safe, healthy meals for all of our students.
For our Online Students, households will have the opportunity to sign up to pick up meals two times per week. This will work a lot like our emergency school closure program. 2 days of breakfast and lunch will be handed out on Mondays and 3 days of breakfast and lunch will be handed out on Wednesdays. This program will differ from the emergency closure program in that your meal benefit eligibility will determine the cost, just as it would if your child was on-campus. If you would like to sign up for this program or if you have questions, email foodservice@darbonnewoods.com or you can call 318-368-8051 extension 6035 beginning August 31, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please leave a message with your name and phone number if there is no answer. Your call will be returned as soon as possible.
For our On-Campus Students, breakfast will be served Grab & Go style and taken to the classroom to eat. Making sure that your student has their badge in the morning will allow them to quickly scan their own badge at one of our no-touch scanners, receive their breakfast and proceed to their classroom. If they do not have their badge, they will have to stop and state their full name before receiving their breakfast. Please discuss this new procedure with your student(s).
At lunch, On-Campus students will let teachers know during roll-call if they would like a meal. If your student comes in late, please remind them to let their teacher know as soon as possible if they would like a lunch that day. Lunches will be served and eaten in the classrooms.
We will be posting our new menus soon. Our menu for the first several weeks will not include a choice of entrees as we have had in the past. The meals will, however, be nutritious, delicious and meet all USDA requirements. We will still be serving our students’ favorites, but while we all adjust to the new school day we are serving their easy-to-transport, eat-in-the-classroom and clean-up favorites. This is to help us keep mealtime minimum contact.
In addition to talking to your children about new procedures, I would like to add a reminder to go over proper hand-washing technique and the added importance of not sharing and trading food at this time.
If your student has a food allergy and will be eating at DWCS, please make sure that the nurse has your child’s information. The Child Nutrition program has more information on our website darbonnewoods.com in the About Us section. Please check it out. We will be posting information from
our meal preparers, SLA, on their safety protocols as well as information on making online payments through MySchoolBucks.com.
As always, if you have a question or concern about food service or your student’s account, please contact Carla Harpin at 318-368-8051 extension 6035 or email me at foodservice@darbonnewoods.com.
