Open Enrollment Dates 2026-2027 School Year

Open Enrollment begins- Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. CST
Last Day of Open Enrollment- Friday, February 27, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. CST
Lottery Drawing- Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. @ DWCS Assembly Hall
Acceptance & Wait List letters mailed- Friday, March 6, 2026
Late applications will be accepted Tuesday, April 8, 2026

* The length of the enrollment period cannot be shorter than one month nor longer than three months per LDOE Act 467 Guidance: Recruitment and Enrollment

DWCS will begin to accept applications for enrollment for the upcoming school year on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. on our website at www.darbonnewoods.com. The application window closes Friday, February 27 at 3:00 p.m. All required documents MUST be uploaded and submitted online by this deadline.

IMPORTANT: Student applicants will NOT receive priority for turning in an application on the first day of open enrollment or before other applicants during the open enrollment window (January 8 – February 27). The determination of a student’s enrollment status or position on the waitlist is based on the results of the lottery drawing on Tuesday, March 3rd. The open enrollment/ lottery process is designed to be fair and transparent following LDOE Public Charter School guidelines, and the written policies and procedures have been approved by D’Arbonne Woods Charter School’s Board of Directors. The policy is available on our website under the admissions tab.
Current DWCS students do not need to re-apply. Siblings of current DWCS students MUST apply and will be placed in the lottery drawing; siblings of current DWCS students will be given priority in the lottery drawing. Also, student applicants who were on the waiting list will need to re-apply during the open enrollment period each year.
***A student MUST turn 5 years of age on or before September 30, 2022 to enroll in kindergarten. ***

Additional Information:
We are excited to announce our partnership with Avela. This company provides application and wait list management software designed to improve communication and streamline the process for the families we serve. We have worked with Avela team members to simplify our application process. The program is mobile-friendly, multilingual, and incorporates all of the questions needed to capture student application information and necessary documents while protecting privacy.
Additionally, we will use this software to ensure an accurate and transparent lottery drawing, and acceptance and waitlist letters will be emailed to parents. One of the most valuable tools offered is the ability to log-in and view your student’s acceptance or wait list status in real time.
Even though we are moving to this platform for enrollment, we welcome your phone calls and emails. We realize that there will be questions and a need to speak to individual staff members. This is an additional resource offering that we hope will be beneficial to our families. Please be patient with our staff as we navigate this new process.
