Each spring, Duke TIP holds special award ceremonies to honor 7th Grade Talent Search participants who do exceptionally well on the ACT or SAT. DWCS is proud to recognize 3 students for their outstanding accomplishments in the Duke TIP Program. Micah Anderson and Brody Towns, 7th grade students, qualified for the State Recognition Ceremony at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Both Anderson and Towns also qualified to attend summer programs sponsored by Duke TIP.

Micah is the son of Melody and Patrick Anderson. He is on the Principal’s list and is a member of the DWCS Gifted & Talented Program, National Junior Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS), and the DWCS fishing team. He is also a member of the Trail Life USA organization and is an active member of the junior youth group at Antioch Baptist Church.

Brody is the son of Mary Beth and Chad Towns. He enjoys spending time with his church youth group and helping others on mission trips. He is on the Principal’s List and a member of Junior Beta, FCS, and the E3 Leadership team. He loves being active at school with football, baseball, and junior high basketball manager. Brody is also a wrestler and a 4H animal showman who enjoys working on the farm.

We would also like to recognize Luke Waldron, 7th grade student, for receiving top honors and qualifying for Duke Tip’s Grand Recognition Ceremony on the campus of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. In addition, Waldron also qualified for the State Recognition Ceremony at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and for Duke Tip’s summer programs. Luke attained a perfect score of 36 on the Reading portion of the ACT.

Luke is the son of Beth and Lance Waldron. He is on the Principal’s List, in the DWCS Gifted & Talented Program, a member of the DWCS Jr. High basketball team and a member of the National Junior Beta Club. Luke served as 7th Grade Class Representative at the Jr. Beta Leadership Conference this year in Hot Springs and attended the Louisiana Jr. Beta Club Convention where he ran for state office. Luke is an avid golfer and a member of Lake D’Arbonne Country Club & Golf Course. Luke also loves to fish, play the guitar, and attend LSU football games.
