6th Grade Football Parents
Parents of 6th Grade football players:
This year DWCS is coordinating a 5th/6th Grades Flag Football Team through the Football-N-America league based out of Ouachita Parish. For kids who will be in the 6th Grade in 2022, kids interested in playing football will have the option of participating in Flag Football, or being on the (tackle) DWCS Junior High Football Team. There are pros and cons of each to consider as you make this decision:
Obviously, the biggest difference is the reduced level of contact in Flag Football.
Another thing to consider is that Flag Football has smaller teams, meaning kids would get more playing time compared to being younger and/or smaller than their 7th and 8th Grade peers they’d be with on the DWCS Junior High Football team.
If you choose for your 6th Grader to play Flag, please see the announcement on the school’s website on how to register for that. If you choose for your 6th Grader to play Tackle, then they should be attending summer workouts that have already started.
